Notes:

George Charles BULLOCK, the fourth son of James Bullock and his second wife Ellen Cahill, was born in November 1873 in Cannanore or Malapuram, in present day Kerala and was christened the following January in the Anglican church, (St. John's) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Like most of his siblings he attended the Lawrence School Lovedale as a boarder, and after leaving in about 1890, received training in the Post and Telegraph Service. He is known to have been present at the wedding of his elder brother Henry Jacob [q.v] in Bangalore in October 1903, and to have left the Madras Presidency for the Punjab later that year, or early in the next. The records show that he married Catherine Pearl Jane Matthews in Dalhousie, (Chamba District), Himachal Pradesh in 1904. Evidently he had been married before. (No details). He and his family are known to have returned to the Madras Presidency sometime before March 1909. Two of his children were born in Madurai. (See Notes for Mary Ann Leyland). The family is also known to have resided in Trichinopoly and Ootacamund, where his third child was born. He finally left the Madras Presidency for Calcutta, accompanied by his family in about 1913. He continued to serve in the Government Post and Telegraph Service in Assam (Meghalaya) and West Bengal until his retirement in about 1947.

There were altogether seven children from his second marriage. Many of them emigrated to Australia after Independence in 1947.
