It is thought that John BOD(D)INGTON married Joan UNKNOWN some time between 1643 and 1657 in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Carlton. Parish records for that period appear to be incomplete. Curiously, there are entries for Baptisms and Burials for the years 1644 and 1645, but no Marriages. The next entry in the Register reads: "Anno Dni 1657. Tho. Great-Bach, Rector de Carlton, May 1, 1657". The first marriage recorded after this entry is for April 12th, 1658.
