Notes:

Dorothy May INGRAM was born in Quetta in 1910 at the time her father, a Sergeant in the 1st Bn. Essex Regt was stationed in Baluchistan on frontier service. After a few years in the north west of the sub-continent, the family returned to Ootacamund, ("Ooty") in the Nilgiri Hills of present day Tamil Nadu and Dorothy was sent to join her elder brothers and sisters at the Lawrence Memorial Royal Military School, Lovedale. She left boarding school at the age of 18 and in February 1932 met and married Staff Sergeant Thomas BODDINGTON, RA. She accompanied or followed her husband on various postings in the North West frontier provinces and the Punjab until the outbreak of World War II. The family moved into married quarters in the garrison cantonment in Karachi and remained there until 1948.

She and her four sons accompanied her husband to England on repatriation and the family settled in Coventry, Warwicks. She died at Stavely House Rest Home in December 1994 at the age of 84.

Dorothy married Thomas BODDINGTON, son of Charles BODDINGTON and Alice COOK, on 9 Feb 1932 in St Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Madras (Chenai) Tamil Nadu, India.1 2 (Thomas BODDINGTON was born on 23 Apr 1903 in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England,6 died on 9 Jun 1984 in Cheylesmore, Coventry, Warwicks, England 7 and was cremated on 17 Jun 1984 in Canley, Coventry, Warwicks, England.)
