Notes:

Named after his grandfather, Thomas William BULLOCK was born in Cannanore, Kerala. Like most of his siblings, he was educated at the Lawrence School Lovedale and after leaving school in 1884, received training in the Indian Telegraph Service at the newly formed P&T Technical Training College in Madras. He was employed as a Telegraph Engineer during the expansion of the network into southern India. It is said that he met his first wife Ethelind Barnett while working on the installation of the exchange at Ootacamund. They were married there in the church of St. Stephen's in 1894. Sadly she died in Bangalore shortly after the birth of their son Henry Verdyn in 1895. Thomas William later married his sister-in-law Eleanor Kennet Barnett in Madras. The family moved on posting to West Bengal very soon after the birth of their first child Oswald William in 1903. They had four more children. After a number of managerial appointments in the Indian Telegraph Service of West Bengal, he was appointed Deputy Superintendant of Tegelgraph Services, Punjab in 1909, and eventually was promoted Superintendent in December 1912.

Thomas William died of Malaria in Lahore at the age of 49 in 1913, one year after the birth of his twin sons Albert and Edmund. His family returned to the Madras Presidency after his death.
