Petronella DE NAAIJER

  • Born: Cir 1733, <Cochin (Kochi), Kerala, India>
  • Marriage (1): Hendrik VERDUIJN about 1750 in <Cochin (Kochi), Kerala, India> 1 2

Notes:

The Dutch name 'de Naaijer' given to Petronella suggests that her mother was a native woman of the local Nair, (Nayar) people that lived, (and still live) in the hills about Cochin. Evidently, unions between the Dutch settlers and native women were not uncommon in those times. Petronella is known to have come from "Koetsein", an orphanage in Cochin established and run by Dutch missionaries. So far, there are no details of her parentage. 3

Petronella married Hendrik VERDUIJN, son of Unknown and Unknown, about 1750 in <Cochin (Kochi), Kerala, India>.1 2 (Hendrik VERDUIJN was born circa 1721 in <Rotterdam, Nederlands> and died circa 1763 in <Cochin (Kochi), Kerala, India>.)
