He is known to have lived with his brother James' family in Cannanore, (Kerala) in 1870 and again in 1876. Otherwise, most of his life was spent in Madras where he worked in the Revenue Survey Department. His brother James's third son was named after him. Henry Jacob took his mother in to live with him in 1865, following the death of his father Thomas William in Cuddalore. He is said to have been present at the tragic death of his sister-in-law, (James's second wife) Ellen in Cannanore. He was also the executor of his brother James's will in 1869.

Henry Jacob died in his 80th year on 26th January 1926 and lies buried close to the remains of his mother Anna Verdyn in the Kanchipuram cemetery at St. Thomas' Mount, Madras, (Chennai). 4
