Notes:

James Colbert was the youngest son of Thomas INGRAM, proprietor and owner of the afore-mentioned Warm Baths near Southend Pier. After a successful career as a Baker and Confectioner, (from about 1870 to1882), he went on to become an enterprising and highly respected Land Agent and Auctioneer. He was elected to the Borough Council and became an Alderman sometime in 1889. He was also a Justice of the Peace, a Magistrate and was four times elected Mayor of the borough of Southend-on-Sea - (1901-02, 1907-08, 1908-09 and 1910-11). On completion of his third term as Mayor and Justice of the Peace, he was granted 'Igitur Laudata'  by the Southend Borough Council. He remained in civic duty for the rest of his life, and was Returning Officer for Pier Ward at the time of his death.

James Colbert Ingram died 26^th September 1923, probate granted 25^th March 1924 to Hannah Ingram widow, Elizabeth Ingram spinster, George Mitchell Hedges and Sydney Leonard Sprent, company directors, and Arthur George Waller chartered accountant. His effects were £199,418 9s 7d.

Hannah Ingram died 18^th December 1934, probate granted Lewes 23^rd February 1935 to Sydney Geof Scales architect. Her effects were £21,278 19s 7d. ⁴

7. He was elected to the Southend Magistrate's Bench and appointed Justice of the Peace in 1903.

8. He was elected Mayor of Southend-on-Sea for the second time in 1907.

9. He was again elected Mayor of the Borough of Southend-on-Sea in 1908 and on completion of his term in 1909, was granted "Igitur Laudata " by the Southend Borough Council.

10. He was elected Mayor of Southend-on-Sea in November 1910-1911 for the fourth time.

11. He was the Returning Officer for Pier Ward, Southend-on-Sea until 1922.

James married Elizabeth ELLIOTT, daughter of John ELLIOTT and Sarah, circa 1869 in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England.
