  • Marriage (1): Elizabeth SAWELL circa 1806 in Prittlewell, Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England
  • Marriage (2): Elizabeth MILLS on 4 Dec 1824 in St Mary The Virgin Church, Prittlewell, Southend-On-Sea 1
  • Died: 5 Oct 1863, Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England aged about 81 1

Another name for Thomas was Thomas Francis INGRAM.

Events:

1. He worked as a Waterman, Mariner in Bradwell-Near-The-Sea, Essex, England.

2. He was employed as a Proprietor of the Warm Baths circa 1820 in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England.

Thomas married Elizabeth SAWELL circa 1806 in Prittlewell, Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England. (Elizabeth SAWELL was born circa 1785 in <.. Essex, England> and died in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England.)

So far, there are no details for this marriage and it is not known if there were any children from the union.

Thomas next married Elizabeth MILLS, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, on 4 Dec 1824 in St Mary The Virgin Church, Prittlewell, Southend-On-Sea.1 (Elizabeth MILLS was born circa 1805, died on 28 Apr 1865 in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England 4 5 and was buried on 6 May 1865 in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England 3.)

There were altogether eleven children from this second marriage. It will be noted that Elizabeth was 24 years his junior. Before his marriage to her, Thomas fathered an illegitimate daughter by his younger brother Robert's widow Isabella, (q.v.) who was said to be "between husbands" (sic). He was charged with a "Bastardy Order" for the birth of this child in December 1821. Thomas is also strongly suspected of being the father of his sister-in-law's second illegitimate child Louisa (q.v) in 1825. However there is no evidence to support this.

The youngest of Thomas's and Elizabeth's eleven children, James Colbert (aka Albert) who was born in 1848 went on to become an Alderman and then the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea in 1907, (see pics).

Elizabeth INGRAM, (née Mills), died at her home in 1 Grove Terrace, Southend-on-Sea on 28 April 1865. She left a Will nominating her eldest son Thomas William as sole executor. Probate was granted on 22 August 1865. Her effects were said to be under £450. 6 7
